Ex-Police Commander Nixon Agasirwe arrested over 2015 Kagezi assassination
Joint security agencies have arrested former Police Special Operations Commander, Nixon Agasirwe, over allegations of his involvement in the 2015 assassination of senior state prosecutor Joan Kagezi. The arrest follows testimony by a key prosecution witness, Daniel Kiwanuka Kisekka, a UPDF deserter, who told the International Crimes Division of the High Court on Wednesday that a man he identified as “Nick” ordered Kagezi’s killing. Sources close to the investigation confirmed that Agasirwe is currently being held at the Flying Squad headquarters in Kireka to assist with ongoing inquiries. Nixon, in question, was the commander of special operations in the police during Gen Kale Kayihura's tenure as Inspector General of Police.
