Sironko market vendors demand construction of safe, permanent marketplace
Over 600 market vendors in Sironko are demanding that the district construct a fully fledged market for them. The vendors, who operate the Nalugugu Market along the roadside and mainly deal in matooke and horticultural produce, argue that they are working in a very unsafe environment along the Mbale–Sironko highway.
They add that some of their colleagues have lost their lives in road crashes, mostly caused by speeding motorists.
