Angry herdsmen reject presidential eviction notice
A section of migrant cattle keepers, based in northern Uganda have rejected a presidential ultimatum for them to leave in 14 days time, or be forced out. This follows a directive, announced by the State Minister in charge of Northern Uganda, Kenneth Omona, after area residents expressed concern that the migrant cattle keepers, who are known as balaalo had yet to leave, despite an order made two years ago.
Today, a section of these migrant cattle keepers speaking from Kampala, say they have legal documents validating their stay in northern in Northern Uganda. As JULIET NALWOGA reports, the cattle keepers want government to at least compensate them before they leave.
