Vendors in Soroti ask for safer market space
Over 600 market vendors, especially women at Nalugugu Market who mainly sell matooke and horticulture produce, are demanding that the district construct a gazetted large market for them. They argue that operating along the Mbale–Sironko Highway and Nalugugu–Budadiri Road is risky. The vendors were receiving garbage bins and other hygiene materials from ASA Microfinance International, a micro-lender that targets women operating small and medium-sized businesses.
