Red Cross explains the challenges of dealing with crisis
As heavy rains pound various parts of the country, the Uganda Red Cross Society says it has set up standby teams to effectively respond to disasters like floods. Speaking to NTV, Robert Kwesiga the Secretary General of Uganda Red Cross Society said they have at least 500,000 first respondents country-wide. Kwesiga, however, says the agency is yet to recruit divers to beef up the team. Kwesiga also told NTV that they have been issuing early warning messages in areas that are prone to flooding.
