ELECTRICITY VANDALISM: Government loses up to shs26bn to equipment theft
The government and the taxpayer have lost 26 billion as a result of electricity equipment vandalism. With a bill in the excess of 15 trillion shillings needed to evacuate power from existing dams to the consumer, the problems have to be tackled. Energy minister Ruth Nankabirwa has promised to use the country’s security apparatus to rein in on the thieves. Racheal Nabisubi reports.
