Minister Anite says new law on minimum wage now in the offing
The State Minister for Privatisation and Investment, Evelyn Anite, says the Central Government has started discussions to institute a minimum wage after several years of no action. Anite's revelation came as she presided over the launch of TCL Electronics at Kampala Serena Hotel last night. Today more than 1.2 million Ugandans are employed by the manufacturing sector but their wages are largely determined by individual investors. For their part, TCL Electronics have pledged to build the manufacturing capacity of Ugandans so that the country can move from assembling to manufacturing.
