HEALTH FOCUS: COVID-19 impact on diabetes treatment
This year’s World Diabetes Day coincides with a global pandemic which has already taken the lives of over a million people. People with diabetes are paying a higher price. Not only do they have a higher risk of severe COVID-19 disease and death when infected, but many are having difficulty accessing the treatment they need due to disruptions to essential health services. This week in health focus, we highlight Type one Diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes which is a chronic condition where the pancreas produces little or no insulin.
