Uganda Cancer Institute to scale up cervical cancer screening amid rising HPV cases
The Uganda Cancer Institute says it plans to scale up cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services as the number of HPV-positive cases soared to over 6,300 last year alone. Although cervical cancer is preventable and curable, including through condom use, it remains a significant public health concern in Uganda, contributing to a rise in cancer-related deaths among women. As Juliet Nalwoga reports, authorities are urging the public to take a more active role in cancer screening.
