Whistleblower asks IGG to investigate Uganda Investment Authority

Tuesday June 26 2018

A concerned citizen has petitioned the Inspectorate of Government and the Minister of Finance and Planning to investigate the restructuring process in the Uganda Investment Authority.
According to the petitioner, the governing board of the Uganda Investment Authority recently overhauled the institution and advertised the positions of directors, deputy directors and senior managers.
However, the petitioner claims that the restructuring process had been mismanaged.
The petitioner asks the Inspectorate of Government and the finance minister to investigate the circumstances under which the board of the investment authority shortlisted only one person for interviews for seven positions.

Some of the positions in question are; Director One Stop Centre, Chief internal auditor, Director investment promotion and development, and Director for industrial parks.
The petitioner also questions why the board failed to shortlist anyone for deputy director human resource and administration, deputy director research and planning and deputy director business development yet many competent people applied.
However, in a letter dated 21st June authored by Stella Kanyike, the deputy director of communication and public affairs, the investment authority dismisses the petitioner's claims.
