The long-running dispute in Northern Uganda has reached a critical flashpoint, with many migrant cattle keepers, commonly known as Balaalo, now facing forceful eviction without compensation. This latest escalation follows Executive Order 2 of 2025 and a directive from the Minister of State for Northern Uganda, Kenneth Omona, despite the Balaalo having legally acquired land, leading to significant losses and appeals for justice.

The eviction drive is allegedly backed by military action, resulting in the confiscation of thousands of cattle. Beata Muwema has the details.
