NTV PANORAMA: Assessing the inadequacies in managing the COVID-19 pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic may have ravaged the world but in some instances, it brought along a positive tide. In Uganda, it initially provided an opportunity to ramp up investments in health infrastructure as one of the responses for which billions in back-to-back supplementary budgets were approved. Months down the road, the pandemic has placed hospitals under strain and it has been said that now it is upon doctors to decide who lives or die. This, as a November ministry of Finance budget monitoring report detailed glaring inadequacies in government’s COVID-19 multi-sectoral response, and inept leadership as the stewards in charge of combating the pandemic lurch from one crisis to another.
