For people looking to have more control of their wealth than their current nation of residence allows, acquiring citizenship elsewhere is a great option. However, it is not ideal to consider obtaining second citizenship if it means having to denounce the citizenship of your original country. It is not always a bad thing to switch passports, but it depends on which country you are looking to move to. In today’s world where technology is king, moving around is part of life for many people so that you can maintain the global competitiveness of the current cut-throat market.
While the list of countries that allowdual citizenshipcontinues to grow, several countries still do not have laws that allow for dual citizenship. Having multiple nationalities in these countries is strictly forbidden. Some countries allow dual citizenship but are beginning to investigate and prosecute the citizens that have multiple nationalities.

Albania
Albania allows its citizens to obtain citizenship from other nations.
Australia
The government of Australia allows its citizens to hold citizenship for multiple nations on condition that they are involved in the process. The rule is also subject to Australians who got their citizenship through naturalization, such as through marriage.
Barbados
Barbados allows her citizens to obtain a second nationality. The government even encourages those living oversees to acquire citizenship.
Bangladesh

Canada
Due to Canada’s proximity to the U.S, some Canadians were actually born in the States and are not aware they hold dual citizenship. Canada allows its citizens to obtain dual citizenship and is encouraging Canadians to take advantage of their dual citizenship.
Chile
Chile allows dual citizenship despite most people believing the opposite.
Costa Rica
This country in Central America is one of the countries that have the most complex process of naturalization. However, it is quite easy for Costa Ricans to obtain dual citizenship.
Croatia
Citizens of Croatia who acquired their citizenship through birth may hold multiple nationalities. However, to become a Croatian citizen through naturalization, one must renounce their citizenship or be willing to do so before they can be offered citizenship.
Cyprus
Cypress markets its economic citizenship program, an expensive way to become a Cyprus citizen through naturalization. It is only logical that Cyprus allows its citizens to obtain multiple nationalities.
Czech Republic
After the political players in the Czech Republic toiled so hard to forbid foreign citizens from acquiring citizenship in the country, the law that now allows citizens to hold multiple citizenship was instituted in 2014. The law was put in place as part of the country’s efforts to align itself with the rules and regulations of the European Union. The law also allows people who lost their Czech citizenship to reinstate it.
Denmark
Denmark citizens have been unable to obtain dual citizenship for a long time. However, since 2015, Denmark citizens can now acquire citizenship from multiple nations.
Egypt
The Egyptian government allows its citizens to acquire citizenship from multiple countries. People willing to obtain dual citizenship are, however, required to notify the relevant authorities first. Citizens who successfully acquire multiple citizenship must also give that information to the relevant authorities of their intent to retain their Egyptian citizenship within a period of 12 months. Those who enroll for multiple citizenships are barred from joining police and military academies. They are also barred from vying for any parliamentary seat in Egypt.
Finland
Finland's citizens are allowed to obtain multiple citizenship as of 2003. Those who had lost their citizenship before the law was instituted are also entitled to reinstate their citizenship status. Those who wish to obtain Finland citizenship through naturalization are also allowed to retain their original citizenship.
France
French citizens are allowed by their law to obtain citizenship for more than one other nationality. The French government has even denounced a European Council proposal to limit the offering of multiple citizenship.
Germany
German citizens were, not so long ago, allowed by their newly instituted law to hold multiple citizenships. However, the law isonly applicable to young people.
Greece
Greek citizens are also allowed to obtain multiple nationalities. However, relinquishing the citizenship of Greece is on the condition that you complete any military requirement. While the Greek government does not encourage it, it is possible to initially obtain a second residency in the country than work towards becoming a citizen.
Hungary
Hungary does allow her citizens to acquire multiple citizenships.
Iceland
Iceland‘s laws on dual citizenship are identical to those of Finland. They also allow their citizens to obtain more than one nationality.
Ireland
Ireland, like Italy and Israel, allows those with Irish ancestry to obtain an Irish passport. Ireland allows dual citizenship.
Israel
Israel encourages its citizens to hold multiple nationalities without requiring them to relinquish their original citizenship.
Italy
Those with an ancestral past in Italy are allowed to obtain citizenship. They also easily enable people to hold multiple nationalities.
Jamaica
The Caribbean country recognizes multiple nationalities.
Kosovo
Kosovo allows dual citizenship without additional requirements.
Latvia
Latvia recently included dual citizenship in their law book. Thanks to the law, people of different nationalities can invest in the country and quickly become Latvian nationals.
Malta
