HIPPOS PREPARATION: Byekwaso head-scratching one last time
Next month the national under-20 men’s team will make its debut at the Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations. The tournament will run from February 14th to March 6th in Mauritania. The Hippos have been pooled in Group A alongside hosts Mauritania, Cameroon and Mozambique. Only the top two sides from the group will advance to the business end of one of African age grade football’s showpiece tournaments. Uganda’s team will be handled by KCCA FC assistant manager and former Cranes midfielder, Morley Byekwaso. Four players were recently released from the training camp, including UK-based Samuel Moses Kitaka. Musa Ramathan is one of the 34 players hoping to make the final cut.
