Refugee Settlement schools overwhelmed, learners forced to study in shifts
Schools in Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement are overwhelmed by the number of learners who now have to study in shifts. The Headteacher of Rwamwanja Settlement Primary School, Lawrence Twazemace, says the 13 classrooms were not enough to accommodate the learners who have to observe the COVID-19 preventive measures. The Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project (DRDIP) constructed six more classroom blocks to accommodate the 3,000 people in the settlement, both refugees and nationals. A delegation from Ethiopia visited the settlement on a bench-marking mission of the Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project.
