President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is edging closer to his 5th elected term as latest provision results suggest a massive lead against opponents.
At 9 am on Saturday, the Electoral Commission chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama declared the provisional results from 86% of the votes cast. In this declaration, Museveni holds over 58% of the tallied votes.
Museveni’s strongest opponent, National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi comes second with over 34% of the tallied votes opting for his rule. Despite Kyagulanyi gaining on Museveni, there is little hope that the pop-star turned politician can over take the President.
FDC’s Patrick Oboi Amuriat is still in 3rd position as of the provisional results declared at 9am. Amuriat has a little over 3% of the declared votes. This has been a disappointing election for the FDC party as the party has lost most of its seats in Parliament.
At the back of there pack, is Willy Mayambalas who has kept his spot since the beginning of the declarations. Nancy Kalembe, the only female candidate, is holding there 8th position with o.37% of the vote and berating John Katumba, Fred MWesigye and Willy Mayambala.
