Museveni in early lead as EC releases second set of results

The electoral Commission (EC) continues to release provisional results of the 2021 Ugandan general elections as they receive and verify numbers declared at the various polling centres around the country.

In the latest results, the incumbent President Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni is leading with over 65% of the verified results from 8,310 polling stations.

In the results declared at 9.30 am on Friday 15th January 2021, the National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi comes second with quite the distance between him and Museveni. Kyagulanyi, so far, has less than half of Museveni's declared results and stands at 27.39%.

Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) Patrick Oboi Amuriat is currently in the 3rd position with about 3.6% of the results declared so far. He puts a distance between him and the middle of the pack.

At the back of the race, is independent candidate, Willy Mayamabla who has just over 5,000 votes from the declared polling stations.

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (NRM - 1,536,405 (65.02%)

Robert Kyagulanyi (NUP) - 647,146 (27.39%)

Patrick Amuriat (FDC) - 84,969 (3.6%)

Mugisha Muntu (ANT) - 16,673 (0.71%)

Norbert Mao (DP) - 16,315 (0.65%)

Joseph Kabuleta  (Independent) - 15,403 (0.65)

Henry Tumukunde (Independent) - 13,813 (0.58%)

Nancy Kalembe (Independent) - 12,081 (0.51%)

John Katumba (Independent) - 8,886 (0.38%)
