Lt Gen Pecos Kutesa has died. News of his passing has been confirmed by the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) spokesperson, Brig Flavia Byekwaso.
According to Byekwaso, the Lieutenant General has been in India where he was receiving treatment.
"UPDF fraternity regrets to announce the passing on of Lt Gen Pecos Kutesa that occurred today in India," Brig Byekwaso tweeted.
Kutesa was one of the 14 generals that were recently retired from the UPDF.
Kutesa was one of President Museveni’s Bush War bodyguards and accompanied him several times on treacherous journeys across Lake Victoria and into Kenya in search of arms.
The Munduli-trained officer was one of the first people to document their Bush War memoirs in the book, Uganda’s Revolution 1979-1986: How I Saw It.
The late Lt Gen Pecos Kutesa briefly fell out with President Yoweri Museveni, but had since been rehabilitated.
At the time of his reti8rement, Lt Gen Kutesa was the Army’s Chief of Military Doctrine. He had also represented the Military in the 1oth Parliament.
