Kabale police constables protest non payment
Over 90 police constables who were recruited to man the 2021 electoral process in Kabale district have stormed the Kabale Regional Police Office demanding their three months payment.
The Special Police Constables mostly from Kabale Municipality walked to the station dressed in civilian attire while a few of them were dressed in the army green uniform that they were given.
They claimed that they had obtained information suggesting that their allowances were released by the Electoral Commission, but the Regional Police Commander (DPC) had refused to pay them.
The Kigezi Regional Police commander, Dan Byaruhanga, confirmed that the SPCs were not paid, adding that they were awaiting the Police headquarters to approve their payments.
