Abryanz style and fashion awards return to Kampala for 7th Edition

Wednesday September 18 2019

It is that time of the year when Africa’s top fashion stars come together to celebrate and acknowledge the fashion industry stakeholders including fashion designers, models, icons, media influencers amongst others.

The Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards(ASFAS) return to Kampala for the 7th edition. The event, under the theme “The Stars” is set to be the biggest edition yet with a mission to shine a global spotlight on the African Fashion industry while highlighting creativity, achievement and excellence.

The awards seek to highlight the tradition of selflessness of Africans to uplift one another through advancements of adaption and the modern generation that tirelessly challenges the socio-political global status quo.

This year, NTV Uganda is the official sponsor of the awards that are set to take place on the 13th of December 2019 at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The event will be broadcast live on ‘The Beat’, an entertainment show that broadcasts on NTV Uganda from Monday to Friday at 5 pm with the aim of shining a spotlight on African Fashion and entertainment scene.

“This event is a representation of Ugandan and international culture, pomp and pizzazz. We strive to be part of anything that gives people a chance to comment with their true self while showcasing talent, hence once again this year we are pleased to be working with ASFA as the official decor partner” - Angie Kemi-Omeke CEO Pink Coconut

In 2018, the event, a celebration of fashion in Uganda and across Africa attracted some of the continent’s top fashion designers and industry trend-setters who were a picture of glamour as they strutted on the red carpet to the Victoria Ballroom, which hosted the spectacular event.

The fashion industry in Uganda had over the years not been given the respect due to it. I am glad that the ASFAs have changed this and created awareness to what fashion has to offer and the positive impact it can have to the country’s economy,” said Brian Ahumuza, proprietor of Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards in an interview last year

First staged in 2013, the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards have recognised the talent of designers, achievers and personalities across the continent, rewarding icons and game-changers such as David Tlale, Mafikizolo, Mai Atafo, Her Royal Highness the princess of Tooro Elizabeth Bagaya, supermodel Aamito Stacy Lagum, Santa Anzo amongst others.
