Police has arrested ten police officers and six military officers over torture of people who allegedly defied the curfew placed by President Kaguta Museveni in Lorokwo West village in Elegu Town Council.

In a statement released on Monday morning, Police revealed that a join security task team of UPDF and Uganda Police Officers is already investigating the alleged aggravated torture.

“The matter can to the attention of the Anti-Corruption Unit at State House and a task team was immediately dispatched to the area,” reads part of the statement.

Puma Charles, one of the male victims in the incident has since sustained a fractured arm and is admitted at the 4th Divisional Hospital in Gulu.

The Police officers arrested include ASP Richard Balenzi, Sgt Musaasizi Charles, Cpl Odong Joseph, PC Opado Moses, PC Opio Augustine, PC Okello Bosco, PC Okello Jimmy, PC Ssentamu Richard, PC Byamukama G, PC Funga Nelson and PC Busingye Ronald.

Police says these will be charged with aggravated torture.

On the other hand, the military officers include L/CPL Awany Abori Constantine, Pte Making Mohammed, Pte Eboku John Mark, Pte Mutenge Robert, Pte Ayo Silvestre and Pte Ahimbisibwe Eria.

The pictures of the victims made rounds on social media causing outrage with many accusing the security operatives of high handedness while enforcing the presidential directives.
