Rwanda has confirmed seventeen new cases of COVID19 bringing their total number of cases to 36 as of Tuesday, 24th March 2020.

In the latest statement released by the country’s Health Ministry, nine travellers were from Dubai and UAE, three from Kenya, two from USA, one from Aatar, one from India and another from a previously conformed case.

“All travellers entered isolation between 17th -20th March in designated locations from where they tested positive.” reads part of the statement.

The Ministry also confirms that all the above patients are in isolation, under treatment in a stable condition.

"The government continues to call for heightened vigilance and adherence to measures announced including the restriction of non-essential movement, closing of non-essential businesses and suspension of travel between cities and districts," reads another part of the statement.

This comes a day after Uganda confirmed the rise of her cases from one that was reported on Saturday to nine after eight more cases were confirmed on Monday.

All of Uganda’s cases are confirmed to be from Dubai.

Globally, over 378,000 coronavirus cases had been recorded by Monday while the death toll was over 16,000 by press time, according to the World Health Organisation.

Over 101,000 people have however been able to recover from the virus and discharged.
