Human Rights Violations: Security minister denies existence of safe houses
The minister for security Jim Muhwezi has rejected reports of the existence of safe houses. Appearing before the parliamentary committee on human rights, Muhwezi insisted that it is legal for the state to operate the infamous facilities. The remarks were in response to consistent concerns raised by Uganda Human Rights Commission on the use of these facilities for illegal detention and torture.
