TAX ADMINISTRATION: New policies vs narrowing tax base
The international monetary fund’s resident representative Izabela Karpowicz has advised the government to realign old tax exemptions in sectors that are no longer aiding proper economic transformation. Speaking at a high level tax dialogue organised by ACODE, the IMF head also advised the government on increasing tax rates against a narrow tax base, as a situation that could in the long run suffocate economic growth. In the FY 2021/22 the Uganda Revenue Authority is expected to collect a total UGX 20.83tn in taxes.
