Ensuring building fire safety and accessibility | Morning At NTV
In numerous countries, comprehensive fire safety codes and standards cater to the needs of healthy, agile adults using buildings. These individuals can often take for granted the fire safety measures in place. However, the scenario changes drastically for those with activity limitations. Guidelines related to Fire Safety for People with Activity Limitations, if they exist at all, are frequently deficient, symbolic, or even discriminatory. Consequently, individuals with such limitations are compelled to perceive a constant threat to their safety whenever they step into a building. This barrier significantly hampers their personal growth, participation, and societal integration.
In light of this pressing concern, the National Building Review Board (NBRB) has taken a proactive stance. Joining us are Herbert Zziwa, Communications Manager, and Anthony Rucukye, Manager of Investigations, both representing NBRB. They will shed light on how NBRB is tackling the intricate issue of fire safety and inclusivity.
