A security guard has shot dead a customer identified as Ainebyona Arnold Mugisha at the Naalya-based Quality Supermarket on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been a co-owner of Hickory Bar and Restaurant in Kololo.
According to Police, the incident happened at around 10.30am when the security guard identified as Moses Angoria shot the deceased through the mouth. Mugisha died while being rushed to Independent Hospital Ntinda.
“Crime scene police have already visited the area and arrested the suspect who was about to be lynched by the mob. The killer gun has been recovered. The suspect has been admitted to Mulago for first aid and the deceased’s body has been taken to Mulago Hospital mortuary for postmortem,” the Police statement reads in part.
Police’s preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased and his two other colleagues came to the supermarket to shop. As they were leaving, he reversed the car and drove on the foot of a security guard, Mr Awaze Babu, after which a sharp exchange of words ensued.
Eyewitnesses say this prompted Angoria to rush to the sentry box where he picked his SAR gun and shot the deceased in the mouth while he was still at the steering wheel in the car.
Police say investigations into the matter are still ongoing and details will be communicated later.
