Police arrests suspects connected to Zana Mobile Money theft, murder

The Police has announced the arrest of two more suspects connected with the murder of two women dealing in Mobile money in Zana. The two suspects are Onenchan Emma and Magusho Denis.

On Monday 10th June, 2019, two women Harriet Naluwadde, 33 and her employee Maureen Nakabubi, 25 were shot dead by thugs riding on three unidentified motor cycles . The police started their investigation into this robbery and homicide immediately.

According to the police, Onenchan and Magusho are former convicts, recently released from prison. They are highly connected to multiple shootings in various bares including Masaka where they stole a car, Katwe where they robbed a bad containing a pressure machine and Church Zone, Nateete Parish where they took money from a couple before shooting down another resident of the area.

“The Suspects were arrested while planning another robbery mission of a mobile money dealer in Mutukula”, read a statement from police.

The news of the arrest of these suspected robbers comes in a little over a week after the police announced the arrest of three security guards suspected of robbing the Cheap General Hardware shop in Nansana. The thugs who pulled off the crime were heavily armed and carried out the deed in broad day light.

“The investigation and attendant arrest serves as an example of the effecting of strong and consistent collaboration among law enforcement agencies”, read the police statement on the arrest.

The arrest of Onenchan and Magusho raises eyebrows over the country’s Prison system. Ex-convicts going back into a world of Crime.

“We have increased our intelligence on former convicts released from prison to create a hostile environment for repeat offenders”, said the police
