Besigye arrested as police block FDC meeting in Bweyogerere

Monday November 4, 2019

On Monday, police carried out an operation in the areas of Namboole, Kireka, and Bweyogerere where Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party had an anniversary event at Namboole Stadium.

According to a statement released by Police, FDC informed police about the intended celebration and the party leaders were advised to shift. However, police says FDC leaders ignored their directive.

“ Former FDC President Dr Kiiza Besigye defied police orders and parked his vehicle in the middle of the road, blocking and inconveniencing other road users”

Police says Besigye’s car was towed away and he has been taken to Naggalama police station as investigations into the matter proceed.

Meanwhile, police has refuted purported reports on social media about a woman who was allegedly shot and killed in Kireka Trading center. Police says, it’s not true and no death was registered during the operation in Kireka
