China pledges USD 1.1 million to support Uganda’s refugee response

China has announced new financial support to Uganda as the two nations deepen their cooperation. Speaking to the press at the Chinese Embassy in Kololo, Ambassador Zhang Lizhong revealed that Beijing will contribute 1.1 million US dollars, about 4.1 billion shillings, to boost Uganda’s refugee response efforts. The envoy also noted that China’s direct investment in Uganda has now surpassed 40 million dollars, or roughly 150 billion shillings, this year—a sign of the growing economic and humanitarian partnership between the two countries.
