Madrid coaches set to visit Excel Soccer Academy

Academy head: Patrick Gwayambadde

Ever since Excel Soccer Academy formally got licensed to operate under the guidance of Uganda Youth Football Association in 2011, they have been able to maintain their obligation of nurturing young players.

The academy’s Director Patrick Gwayambadde who has been focal in overseeing the growth of the player’s skills and performance was all smiles after organising the first awards gala at Hotel Africana, last Sunday.

This was by no means excellent but still better than most of youth sports events usually organised in Uganda.
“I am delighted to tell you that Spanish Laliga’s Real Madrid have agreed to visit us in May. We shall receive their talented coaches who have shown interest in some of our boys,” Gwayambadde, revealed.

He said participating in the annual Manchester City Cup in Abu Dhabi had worked miracles for them, thereby attracting foreign coaches.

As for the day’s program, several players were recognised for exhibiting stellar performances throughout last year. They were awarded gold medals by assistant Cranes coach Matia Lule.

Fufa president Moses Magogo was chief guest.
Mr John Bosco Masiko also the chairman, Uganda Youth Football Association (UYFA) delivered Magogo’s message and he emphasized the need for creation of more football academies if Uganda’s football is to grow.

“We all know that Cranes qualified in Total 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt. Uganda’s football starting from grassroots has been lacking key stakeholders like Excel Soccer Academy,” he said.
