5.43PM: Besigye arrested in Kabale over Rukungiri chaos

Former FDC president Kizza Besigye has been arrested in Kabale on his way to a campaign rally, the opposition leader was escorting FDC Presidential aspirant Patrick Amuriat to his campaign venue in Kabale after his Rukungiri rally was foiled.

According to our reporter Deo Okodi, Besigye and his team forced their way into the town after skipping a police roadblock, and police had to call in reinforcements in order to arrested Besigye, Ingrid Turinawe and Patrick Amuriat. Police says the opposition leaders will be taken to Rukungiri where they will be charged with commanding the stoning of police officers, unlawful assembly, and injuring police officers.




5:15 pm Tanzania authorities arrest 12 over "homosexuality"

Tanzanian police said Wednesday they had arrested 12 men, including two South Africans and a Ugandan, for presumed homosexuality as part of an ongoing crackdown against gays.



5.00pm: MPs Kato Lubwama, Muwanga Kivumbi arrested over age limit

Police have fire teargas and live bullets to disperse a group of protestors opposed to the amendment of the constitution to remove the age limit cap at Nateete, Rubaga South and arrested the area MP Kato Lubwama.

2:40 PM: No money for age limit consultations - Treasury

The secretary of the treasury Mr Keith Muhakanizi has said there is no money for MPs AgeLimit consultations.

Speaking to Journalists, Muhakanizi who controls the purse strings of the government said as far as he is concerned Parliament has so far been given 50 percent of the money for its expenditures as is provided for in the budget and this does not include money for consultations on the amendment of Article 102b of the Constitution.
