By winning gold, Joshua Cheptegei has become the third person in the history of the Commonwealth Games to win gold in both 5000, and 10000 metres races.

This is after Uganda's Moses Kipsiro won both races in 2010 in New Delhi India.

Kipsiro was the first man in more than 70 years to win both the 5,000 and 10,000m races at the Commonwealth Games.

The first person was Newzealand's Cecil Henry Matthews in 1938 at what was then known as the British empire games.

His medal brings Uganda's collection of Gold Medals at the Commonwealth games in Goldcoast Australia to 3 including Stella's Chesang's 10,000-metre gold.

The country has also won 2 bronze medals.

Only a year ago, Cheptegei was fodder for Jokes after he limped and lost the lead in the International Amateur Athletics Federation's Cross-country championship that was held in Uganda.

Now he is the hero Ugandans will be receiving at Entebbe Airport.
