Negotiations between Kampala Pharmacist Brian Bagyenda and the state on a plea bargain have failed.

Bagyenda, who is charged with murdering his girlfriend Enid Twijukye last year, had sought a lighter sentence in exchange for an admission of guilt.

According to Senior State Attorney  Joseph Kyomuhendo the state declined Bagyenda’s demands, after it emerged that his lawyer Nsubuga Mubiru had indicated that his client had escaped from Butabika Mental Hospital, where he had been a patient prior to committing the alleged offence.
The prosecution indicated that Bagyenda and his co-accused had already been examined and found to be of sound mind.

The matter has now been adjourned to January 14, 2019, when he will appear in the High Court before Judge Anthony Ojok Oyuko. Bagyenda, who is the son of Internal Security Organization chief Col Kaka Bagyenda, is said to have worked with Innocent Bainomugisha, a cleaner and Vincent Rwahwire a casual labourer from Kimwanyi zone in Luzira to kill Twijukye a 22year old former student at Ndejje University.
