New twists in Rebel Leader Jamil Mukulu's terrorism trial

Friday July 20 2018

Prosecution in the terrorism case against former ADF leader Jamilu Mukulu has tendered an amended indictment in which proceedings against three of the accused persons have been dropped.
According to the fresh indictment presented before High court judge Eva Luswata by Senior Asst. DPP John Baptist Asiimwe, proceedings Dr Aggrey Kiyingi, Muzafaru Kaule and Sheikh Swadiq Baligeya were temporarily discontinued, pending the trio's arrest.
In a related development, Joseph Masereka and Adam  Dick Luwooza have been added to the new indictment which now reads 38 accused persons in total.
The accused are awaiting trial on charges of terrorism, murder, crimes against humanity, aiding and abetting terrorism, attempted murder and aggravated robbery.
However, on Friday, a pre-trial session in which DPP is supposed to disclose all his intended evidence and exhibits against  Mukulu and his co-accused did not proceed because the DPP has not yet fully served the evidence on defence lawyers.
