LC 1 elections set to be held on Tuesday, 10th July

Thursday July 05 2018

The Ministry of public service has declared Tuesday 10th July 2018 a public holiday to enable Ugandans participate in the LC1 elections conducted by the Electoral Commission.

The nominations of candidates began on Wednesday 4th July, with candidates flocking to the registration centres. The exercise ends today on Thursday and the elections will be held on July 10 in 60,800 villages countrywide.

The electoral commission has also confirmed that the elections will be conducted using the lining up method as opposed to the ballot method.

Uganda has not conducted elections for LCI (village) and LCII (parish) for the last 17 years, the last one having been held in 2001 before the country shifted from the one-party Movement system to the multiparty system of governance.
