Iganga LC Chairmen demand for salary increment

The newly elected local council one chairpersons in the Northern division in Iganga Municipality have faulted the government for giving members of parliament bigger allowances when themselves are getting what they called peanuts.
The chairpersons noted that being village leaders, they do a lot of work in fighting crime and promoting government programs and asked for more allowances.
The chairpersons made the remarks during the swearing in of the newly elected village and parish local council leaders at a function held at the Northern division offices in Iganga town.
The ceremony was presided over by the commissioner for Oaths Ibrahim Zinsanze.
The chairpersons said that the shs 120.000 allowance given to them by the government every year is too little compared to the scope of work they do in their areas of jurisdiction.
They also reminded government to deliver the bicycles which were promised to them long time ago.
