We have taken Bobi Wine to his home - Police

The Police has reported that they have taken Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi commonly known as Bobi Wine to his home in Magele, Wakiso district.

The legislature returned to the country on Thursday, 20th September. On arrival, he was taken to Kasangati Police station where he was held for over an hour. The police insists that this was not an arrest. Thee Inspector General of Police, Okoth Ochola emphasized that his institution was merely escorting the People Power enthusiast.

In a statement released to the press by the Uganda Police Public Relations Officer, Emilian Kayima confirmed that the Police had safely escorted the “Ghetto president” back to his home. The statement further thanked Bobi Wine for cooperating with the police at Entebbe International airport.

Kayima also thanked the general public in the statement, for adhering to the set of security guidelines that were issued the day before. On Wednesday, 20th September, the Police held a press conference where it put up some guidelines that had to be followed on the day Bobi Wine returned to Uganda.

Earlier in the day, there were rumors that journalists had been arrested by the police. Kayima, in the statement, has denied these allegations.

“Some media personalities were questioned in accordance with set guidelines but were not arrested,” Kayima said in the press release.

A report on NTV@1 pointed out that journalist were barred from reaching the Airport to cover Bobi Wine’s return.
