National drug authority orders drug shops to relocate to rural areas
It is only pharmacies that will be allowed to operate in the City and Municipalities.

The National Drug authority has issued tough guidelines on drug shops currently operating in Kampala.

Starting 2019, the authority will not renew licences to drug shops apart from those willing to relocate outside Kampala.

The move according to the authority is aimed at extending health services closer to those in rural areas.

This directive will also apply to all Municipalities.

It is only pharmacies that will be allowed to operate in the city and Municipalities.

The authority will also give out incentives to pharmacies willing to operate in rural areas.

Following the public outcry from the cattle tick affected areas, the authority is advising cattle keepers to start using three lines of acaricides to kill ticks that have become resistant to existing drugs.
